Paul,
Not really sure. I am pretty sure the transfer case still has high and low
ranges (couldn't confirm on Chevy's website). 1st would obviously be what
we call a "granny" or "stump puller" gear hear in the
States. 2 thru 5 are just close ratio gears, with 6th being over-drive.
Close ratio being important because of the tow rating for the vehicle,
22,000 lbs. But in day to day use one would ignore 1st and use 2-6 as one
would use 1-5 on a 5-speed. I was really tempted to go with this trans
($2,500 is worth a lot of clutching), but laziness and resale
value won the day.
