I have been watching this thread for sometime and I just can't avoid
putting in my two cents.

Ok, there's a bottle of Cuervo 1800 on the floor along with a lot of junk.

If I may be as so bold as to jump in... It is possible to overwrite a
locked file under OS/2, even under HPFS. Takes a little know how but it
can be done and I will do a limited demonstration if needed, under my
conditions.
If you are interested you will need the following:
1. The belief that it can't be done. ;-)
2. Internet access with email and ftp.
3. An HPFS drive with nothing but one file to be sacrificed located on the
drive. (Don't want to hose up your system cause what I will be doing could
get ugly)
4. A predetermined filename in the root of the drive.
(Remember that this program will be a freebie, I don't want to have to
work too hard)
5. A way to lock the file, it's your call. Write a program that opens it
and leaves it open. Heck while your at it give it the attributes of shr.
How about if I overwrite the first 512bytes of the locked file with your name?
Interested?
Any takers? Ferris? Ferris? Anyone? Anyone?
David
PS - I don't have a lot of time to play with this and time is money, hence
the conditions.
Is that an EXTRUDER in your pocket or are you glad to see me?
