Hi Anthony,

AM>I happened across a navy guy earlier in the year when I bought some
AM>simms off him - Mark Farnan I think. Lived with a bunch of other navy
AM>guys too, in Artarmon. Strange people... ;)

AM>AW> Whispering Jack! He's a fully paid up member of my fan club. In
AM>AW> fact I think he's the number one member ;-)

AM>Whispering Jack? You mean he has a quiet voice like many people? How
AM>terrible!

Hey, if you think he's got a quiet voice, ask him his opinion of me one
day ;-)

[smallish company blues deleted]

AM> The idea of working in an even smaller business such as
AM>what the company used to be like, or maybe even one day running my own
AM>business gets more and more appealing. But it frightens me that such
AM>thoughts have entered my mind so soon... :( Does working life get any
AM>better as you get older or further up into the "game"?

I guess you have to be a certain type of person to 1) want to run your
own business and 2) be capable of making a go of it. I think I'm neither
at the moment, and in fact I've never seen or known of a business I'd
like to run.

I can tell you one thing about working life - I dropped down a couple of
rungs and essentially started again in a different field after leaving
the forces, but life has never been better since that decision. If I'd
known what I know now, I may have gone AWL 7 years ago ;-) Christ I hate
the Navy! I was paid the most wonderful compliment on the weekend - I
showed some visitors over the maritime museum and hmas Vampire last
Sunday, and the guide made a couple of quips about how I would never
make a sailor (I presume she was observing my awkwardness as I walked
around the ship) I just smiled and nodded at here. Talk about music to
my ears!

Regards, Alan.
