Anything from the 1950s for starters! ;-)
The first issue (published in 1953 and featuring Marilyn Monroe) is
extremely rare now and is worth quite a lot of money. Most of the other
early '50s issues are also pretty rare.
The 1960's issues are increasingly hard to find in good condition,
especially the earlier part of that decade, but by the 1970s the magazine
was regularly selling millions of copies a month, so any issues from then
on are not quite so rare. Basically, the older the issue, the harder it
will be to find - therefore it will generally be worth more.
The exceptions are the 'celebrity' issues (featuring famous people) which
are likely to be worth a bit more than most, regardless of whether they're
from the 1950s, or 1980s. For example, the Jan. 1981 issue featuring
John Lennon's last major interview is worth a bit more than the issues
either before or after it. Also, the issues containing celebrity nude
pictorials such as those of any well-known actresses are worth a bit
more than other issues.
If you want more information or to talk about specific issues, write
back - either here or via netmail.
Cheers,
Martin
