CJ> I have a Compaq that was given to me, HD dead but everything else CJ> Great, I think, all I have to do is swap in a new HD. CJ> Pop the box, and there's about half an inch or so of space between CJ> the HD and the CD-ROM, and I've been unable to find a screwdriver CJ> with an offset that small. Anyone here have suggestions as to CJ> where to get one? JB> All the compaq's (and othr name brand machines) I've looked at come JB> apart wihout using a scredriver until the last minute, it comes to JB> dismounting the drives, there's a clip or latch somewhere and the JB> whole drive rack should swing over and come out in one piece (or lift JB> out etc) I'll have to take a second look, but I didn't see anything that would give such an approach. JB> OTOH maybe you've gotta take the cd-drive or the somethine out fitrst. Feh. Taking the CD-ROM out would give me enough room, except that it would give me exactly the same problem I'm talking about. JB> there might be omething on the web site. Maybe. If in PDF, though, I'd have to go through some hoops with acquaintances to be able to view it. (I'm now using a 286, and the drive and RAM are probably not up to PDF viewing, even if the text-based library service I use for web access allowed such a d/l.) Still, very little to lose except time in taking a peek. --- Blue Wave/DOS v2.30 [NR]* Origin: Nerve Center: Source of the ELECTRONICS echo!
