Hello Struther!

I guess that depends on the area where you're from, as to who says what. In
the Tampa Bay area, Catalinas are not well received, but Hunters are. After
shopping well for a boat, I settled on a Hunter 34, made in 1984. While it
is not without shortcomings, it is a solid boat, functional, and comfortable
to live on, as I do. Systems are easily serviced or changed, as we all like
to modify things on our boats. I have seen more expensive boats with
problems that my Hunter doesn't have.
Beware of those who arbitrarily catagorize boats like these. Most of what
you hear comes from those who only heard from those who only heard, not from
those who really know from experience.
Also, an experience with only one of a particular kind of boat does not
necessarily parallel the experiences of others. All boats have their strong
and weak features, and all manufacturers must admit that sometimes one
individual product does not live up to the reputation of that model in
general.
Later........Sandy
