I just looked in the BIOS settings of my A22 and didn't find anything 
related to that either.  (The other computers were desktops, so 
therefore didn't have PCMCIA and my 365XD is long-dead.)

I would think that if you're USING a PCMCIA adapter, your PCMCIA port is 
"ON".

You might try searching IBM's site for that message and see if it sheds 
any light.
