I can't see that there's any threat of that from that quarter.

You're arguing against yourself.  As you point out - you can mount very
effective attacks using home-made materials.  The best way to attack the
USA with such agents is to send money - everything you need can be made
locally.

And Al-Quaeda get anything from Iraq?  Like Cuba getting fuel rods from the
USA.  Sure - they're nearby.
