Hardly anything surprises me about grackles.  From my observation and
from having one of them for a pet many years ago, I'm convinced that
they'resubstantially smarter than almost any birds.  They're great
immitators and can learn almost any repetitive sound.
Trouble is, Amazons learn the WORST rackets from them and almost never
any of the nicer ones.
