Caleb Kim was seen kissing Large Marge and telling us:
CK> baseball? You certainly can't pump blood if you don't have a heart.
You can't keep the heart pumping if you feed it a diet that's high in
cholesteral (Men of Steel hitters with iron hands and feet of lead). Losing
Clemens isn't as big of a deal if you consider how much the team has to fix
in order to be a serious contender. Their hitting is only going to take them
so far and unless they take serious steps to improve their bullpen and
defense, Clemens isn't going to make a big difference.
CK> But I hope Clemens will be reasonable at the table. It's not always
CK> the GM's fault, as you know. I'd be very disappointed if Clemens
CK> wanted an excessive amount of money.
Anything that Clemens asks for would be reasonable. He's been the most poorly
supported pitcher on his staff for many years now (His 4.41 runs per game
average was the lowest on the staff. Wakefield, 4.94, Sele, 5.52 and Gordan,
7.18, got a lot more support than he did. His ERA was 1.5 runs better than
the next closest on the staff, Wakefield, yet he was 10-13 and Wakefield was
14-13) and while he's had some bad years, his record isn't indicative of how
well he has pitched. He was probably the most disappointed person that
Aguilera didn't re-sign because it was the first time in a long time that
they had a closer that didn't blow a lot of save opportunities (The bullpen
blew 23 saves, the kind of pace that they were on last year before Aguilera
hit town while the Yanks' pen blew 17 and 5 of those belonged to Lloyd).
