don't suppose you know what errorlevel max exits with?
is this just a batch problem, or does it just exit while someone is actually 
ONLINE.
if max says 
12:23 01 Jan MAX  End, Maximus 3.01........
before it crashes, then it's most likely a batch problem.
Do you have any "exit" commands in your batch file? i think win95 closes the 
dos window on an 'exit' command, not just the current batch file/shell.
