Wl> Remembering that these cacti are not desert dwellers (which is what
Wl> most of us think of when we think of "cactus") but rather, tropicals
Wl> (rhipsalidopsis/Easter, Zyogcactus/Thanksgiving, or
Wl> Schlumbergera/Christmas) are all epiphytes (tree crotch dwellers) from
Wl> the tropical forests of S. Am.
I have the humidity, that's for sure!
Wl> As I shared, in an earlier post on this subject, if you give them
Wl> (Thanksgiving, Christmas) 45-50'F for four weeks (or until they set
Wl> bud), you should get bloom. For Easter, the temp needs to be about 5'F
Wl> less (40-45'F). They also appreciate being pot-bound, so it is best
Wl> not to be kind by giving it a bigger pot at the end of the summer :)
I have the right temps outside usually at Christmas time. They
have never failed to bloom about the right time. My biggest
problem is keeping them happy the rest of the year. I finally
realized my problem. They are happy on the patio about 6 months
out of the year.....but then the sun changes and they were
getting alot of direct sun and they didn't like that. So I
always get blooms but very shriveled up sickly looking plants.

... All I ask is *PROOF* that money won't make me happy.
