RH> JdBP> 18.2Hz is the frequency of the "system
RH> JdBP> heartbeat" interrupt which drives all thread scheduling in
RH> JdBP> the system. 54ms is the "quantum" for
timeslicing. You
RH> JdBP> cannot get finer resolution than 1 quantum.
RH> Since the early days of OS/2 I have not heard

RH> 18.2 Hz for the 'softhearted'!
Seperate timers. The 18.2 Hz timer that's carried over from the
original PC is still there, but unless I'm mistaken, isn't used for
timeslicing: that job is taken care of by reprogramming the real time clock
to scream every 31.25 ms (more on my machine since my RTC is running slow
). Now that I think about it, that's why the HW_TIMER option for
DOS sessions is possible - OS/2 doesn't need the timer for itself anyway.
