FY>learning to do in OS/2, but I found out preety quick that OS/2 was a
FY>very stable environment.
That is one of its main enticements.
FY>To stick with OS/2 I need to find out if the following are possible:
FY>1) Super VGA with 256 colors for editing and viewing gifs.
FY> I have an old generic CIRRUS svga card!
I hope someone knows about drivers for your card. OS/2 requires drivers
for 256 colors just like Windows does. However, since Windows has been
out longer, it has a more complete selection of drivers available.
FY>2) Name of a Shareware or Public Domain software for PM.
Shareware or Public Domain software for PM to do what? There is quite a
bit out there, but it may not do what you want.
FY>3) A way for me to use a seperate SYSTEM and WIN INI files for OS/2
FY>and WINDOWS.
This is most easily done by getting the next version of OS/2 WARP to
come out. It will have Windows code included and won't use the Windows
installation (or system files) that are currently on your drive. The
drawback is that any Windows programs you want to run under both OS/2
and DOS/Windows will have to be installed twice. Once under each copy
of Windows.
FY>I am now learning to love OS/2. But I still feel uncomfortable.
That is why we all kept DOS, or DOS/Windows, around for a while. It
made a great security blanket. Most of us eventually eliminated DOS,
and I feel sure you eventually will too.
