Aside from the fact that your children are better off with you at home
teaching
them, there are many good reasons to stick to your guns here. Childcare is
ne
very important one. Most of the parents I know who work, insisting they need
the second income to get by, end up spending most of that second income on
childcare. Even if all the kids are in school all day, very few jobs allow
work
hours only during the school day :-/
Add to that the higher tax level for the combined incomes, transpotation
costs,
and more frequent take out food because of the exhaustion of trying to be
mother, housekeeper, and work an outside job too...very few of those two
income
couples actually come out ahead.
There was a time that I considered working to add income, back when I only
ad
a couple kids. All the jobs I was qualified for paid about $5 per hour, about
a
dollar or two above minimum at the time. I looked at that figure, factored in
childcare, ect and figured I would bring home about 10 cents an hour. I
decided
$30-40 per month wasn't worth the sacrifice my children would have to make.
Now that I have 5 (soon to be 6) kids, it would cost me money to go to work!
It's a struggle on only one income, but it would be either way. If people bug
you about "not having a job" just tell them you have one, it just pays in
ays
more valuable than mere money :)
