Although you don't need to - almoust all of the "extremly powerful text
tools" you may have had in mind are available for WinDOS too: sed, awk an=
d
Co. You may also try a shareware package like WinX that simulates a
Unix-environment under Windows (95) and comes with (almost) all the
wonderful tiny tools like: file, strings, df, diff, cat, sort, grep etc. =

These tools - together with TSE PRo - to me there's no need anymore to tr=
y
any other platform (I'm only speaking for myself).
