Hello Paul! AM>> What am I doing wrong? I sit in front of a PC at least 50% AM>> of my time at work, but haven't got anywhere near a AM>> leisurely hour or more to spend reading mail! PE> Yeah, me too. It makes you wonder what unemployment rate we would really PE> have if management was done properly. I would have operators doing PE> programming too (with deadlines), and if they can't program, then I'd sack PE> them. BFN. That's an excellent example of the archetypical ignorant programmers attitude. When I spent a little time in batch support at IBM I generally didn't have time to scratch myself, with 7 MVS systems to mollycoddle. And where have you worked that you haven't seen operators program anyway? Operators program every time they write JCL, automate procedures in REXX, or setup scheduling in OPC/A. The typical programmer was the arsewipe that I had to beep or phone five times to get out of bed and come in to fix his job. His sleep was typically more important than my state of mind after fielding 100 calls asking why most of the DB/2 stuff wasn't available because the main batch jobs were still running because shit for brains needed his beauty sleep.
