Hi There! I used to use the roll thru window at the Lawrence/Kingston Rd.
area Wendy's in Scarborough (near Phil's area)... I rode with a group of
that cycled out there from the North York area, and some of us used the
site for HAM radio gettogethers as well... I have the feeling that using
the site is more dependent on getting to know the manager and explaining your
needs... I got to know two in succession and was able to 'negotiate'
successfully. I can't say what currently occurs, as I moved away.
Aside from knowing them, I usually found that the problem was more to do with
them not knowing WHY I wanted to do such a thing rather than eat outside...
IF you wish to get to know the manager in a HURRY, ride up to the D/T order
stand, IF you are refused, don't ride away angry, simply take your bike and
go inside and get in line... better yet take a bunch of friends with
xpensive
bikes like yours... THEN explain that you TRIED to use the Window..
An alternative is to gather as many cyclists as possible to line up to use
the window... after turning away a sizeable run of business one at a time,
they may figure it out...
BEST is to go and talk politely FIRST, after all most people do like to go in
and sit down... perhaps reasonably secure bike parking is a better way to go.
Of course an awful lot depends on just how much business you represent, by
yourself and collectively...Why NOT let one or two bikes a week do what they
want? or Why NOT accomodate bikes outside, rather than inconvenience other
customers inside? ( Especially, somewhat dirt encased mountain bike types
G>)
Business is Business.
BR> Maybe I should move to Toronto. CTV news last
BR> night announced that Toronto is the best place in Canada to live.
As BIG Cities go it's not bad... but most people would go somewhere else
given a chance... I did after 41 years... Decided to skip the small cities
as well. Big shock came when I found out that people out here have decided
to turn the Okanagan into one big Suburb of the lower mainland... I wonder
where they intend to buy food from? California? Same thing back east...
they build on all the best agricultural land... we all must be nuts!
People here also complain about traffic at rush hour... I have a hard time
convincing them that some local streets in Toronto have MORE traffic flow
during non peak hours on the same size street...They do have a lot more
poor drivers here I think ( or maybe the same number but fewer good drivers)
I have yet to see anyone use more than three fingers loosely on the wheel
and few hesitate to drive looking into the back seat area while talking.
That's why I stick to my bike(s) and foot. I hate being a passenger.
See you about, got to bother Phil now.
