You should look inside the book or magazine and read the fine print. :^)
As an example let's take the book you were discussing in a previous
message. PC Magazine "DOS Power Tools"
" This book may not be reproduced in whole or in part, by mimeograph
or any other means, without permission. "
And from PC Computing magazine, also owned by the same company as PCMAG.
" Material in this publication may not be reproduced in any form
without permission. "
If it's printed in a book or magazine, then it is generally their
property, and should be treated as such, unless otherwise stated.
