Yes that's exactly right - we're agreeing violently it seems to me - I am
equalled concerned by both abuses of state power. The NSA example was in my
mind as I read the Guardian story.

BTW at least in American this seems to have become a public debate, which
is a good thing, even if if happened via the back door. I have a hunch that
this sort of spying is fairly routine in Canada, but Canadians are so timid
about challenging Mother Government it rarely enters the public realm.
