What was so funny? It looked just like routine precautions in an
environment where even the monitors need special provisions to prevent EMI
leaking screen contents to eavesdroppers. Supposedly there's a BIOS
version of Lojack that is effective even if the thief reloads the OS. Why
not BIOS spyware?
And it would be trivial to bundle spyware with the recovery CD that
would go active only when the outgoing web proxy is active, passing on
whatever information it had collected.
