7164rpm, according to the spec sheet at seagate.com... :-D
I also found out that it runs about 4.0 bels in sound level, to the 3.2
bels put out by the latest Atlas 10K IV drives from Maxtor, and those
are spinning at 10000rpm...
This dramatic reduction in sound levels is due to the new fluid
bearings in the latest drives... less friction = less heat and less
sound, too.
Worth considering... less heat also means less air conditioning in the
summer, but I will admit it's rather nice to not have to turn on the
heat in my office, and it's 25C (77F) in here, while it's 2C (just
above freezing) outside. Just me and my 18 hard drives... oh, and the
cat. :)
