What kind of laser printer?

What parameters on lpd? You may need the /b flag.

I'm not familiar with OSX so I don't know what a "network printer" means
in that context, but to work with lpd, you are not doing "printer sharing"
in the context of "file and printer sharing" - peer networking.

You need to install a network attached printer - the installation choices
should include somewhere a way to specify that it is an LPD (tcp/ip
attached) printer. You also need a driver on the mac for the printer
type, so that you will be sending raw print data over the network.
