subject: _beginthread() versus DosCreateThread()

Servus, Edwin.

 EG> ``The DosCreateThread() function provided by OS/2 may be
 EG> used to create secondary threads that will not contain
 EG> object windows and that do not call C run-time library
 EG> functions.''

 EG> I understand the part of the object windows, but what do
 EG> they mean with the ``C run-time library functions?''

Ever heard about strstr(), strcpy(), strdup()...?
Whenever your module has an include of C-Library headers, you're probably
using C-library functions. The OS/2 API include doesn't
count, it's not a C library function.

You should look up the C/C++ Reference or Guide there is a nice explanation
when and why to use _beginthread(). As a rule of thumb: You should use the
_beginthread() function whenever you write C code, except when writing
Device Drivers.
