subject: The BBSing hobby

Hi Scott,

About "The BBSing hobby" of December 24:

SA> Telnet is NOT the solution.
MS> ...BBSers will be better keep what makes their hobby unique...
SA> If a board is dead... ...it likely will be dead in telnet.

BBSing, and NetWorked Messaging in particular, made me discover the
TelNet media and now i TelNet less and less because little or no message
trafic attracts my attention on FdN. With the hobby dying, it's hard to
justify spending much more time, energy and money (10th year this fall)!

MS> A few users like me will lurk around...
SA> I'm a coward. At least in the area of closing down.

I believe i can understand. My DialUp ISP provided me WWW presence
(almost three years) and switching to DSL meant it had to go; canceling
my Sympatico subscription (almost seven years) was difficult too and for
the very same reason. Most of the things we value disapear, eventually.

                                    Merry Christmass, ;-)

... In 1981, with some effort, might we have got InterNet access on XTs?
