RS> Let me spell it out for you very clearly. The government, and RS> indirectly the tax payer, has decided that it makes some sense RS> to provide some assistance to the long term unemployed to start a RS> small business. Thats what the NEISS scheme is. You dont qualify. RS> They dont think it makes any sense to be handing out money to people RS> like YOU to start a small business. I happen to agree with them. PJ> My point exactly. The LONG TERM unemployed. You appeared to be saying that you didnt qualify for that scheme, you said so explicitly. PJ> But because I got off my ass and educated myself I get NO help at all. Crap, you actually got a far bigger assistance in the cost of your education than the NEISS people would get, depending on the detail of what education you did do. You actually want BOTH. PJ> It appears that I now have to register as unemployed and basically PJ> be a bum for a while. Then I can get the assistance that others are PJ> getting. What a sad scenario. Nope, the other alternative that YOU have is to start your business in precisely the same way that the absolute vast bulk of businesses have started, without government handouts to do so. If you dont like that, too bad, thats what society has decided is a fair thing, that it ONLY makes sense to give a handout to the long term unemployed on starting a business. There have been for a long time lots of handouts available for the unemployed etc, long and short term, to educate themselves. There still are too. RS> The government and indirectly the taxpayer has already considerably RS> subsidised your education. Tho you do have to pay substantial fees RS> for the tertiary stuff now, thats only part of the total cost of RS> what you got. PJ> My terttiary stuff was not at a government PJ> institution. I got didly assistance with my fees. Well, there is the tiny matter of the vast subsidy you received for your primary and secondary education. Even if you did those not in a government institution too. The government has essentially decided that thats all the subsidy you are going to get and that they wont be giving you a handout to start a small business. I happen to agree with them that it makes no sense to do so. PJ> My education cost the taxpayers NOTHING. It cost me $8,500 for 2 years. And it was entirely your choice to go that route. PJ> Admitedly I did get Austudy of about $150 per week then traded PJ> that in for a LOAN which gave me about $300 per week but now I PJ> owe the government nearly $14000 for that privelidge.. Fine by me, I dont see why I should be handing out money to you to do that. In effect thats just a loan for that $8.5K with you having to pay it back. Fine by me, I'm not planning to make you a gift of that $8.5K and you will find that if you calculate the total amount you pay back, allowing for the time taken to do that, that thats much cheaper than any bank would have charged you. Thats ALONE a subsidy. PJ> Now it doesnt take much to work out that finding $8500 over 2 years PJ> on austudy isnt very easy. It was your choice to go that route. Thats what running a small business is all about boy, making those choices, living with what choices you make. If you cant handle that stuff, I wont be handing you wads of cash to start a small business. Coz the vast bulk of them dont last long anyway. So YOU are a pretty poor candidate in that situation. PJ> All I am asking for from the government is a break for my efforts. They have already done that on a number of occasions. They provided a number of alternatives on your education. They also provided a subsidy on even that private tertiary education in the loan sense. Currently society had decided that thats all you are going to get and that only the long term unemployed are worth giving handouts to to start a small business and black people. Fine by me, I think there is OTW a bit too much in the way of handouts like that anyway tho not excessively so. PJ> It is also interesting that had I stayed on the dole instead PJ> of studying on Austudy I would have recieved alot more per week. Yes, and there are also study schemes as well. Thats what small business is about boy, looking at the situation you are operating in, deciding which is the most viable route to follow. And bitching about the government and how awful they are. You are doing only the last one properly so far |-) --- PQWK202* Origin: afswlw rjfilepwq (3:711/934.2) SEEN-BY: 711/809 934 @PATH: 711/934 |
