Probably not.

Maybe they are, but IIRC 20 or 30 years ago archaeologists found geological
evidence of a massive flood in the Tigris/Euphrates valley that dates from
before (known) written history.  Since Abraham's tribe originated in that
area, that may be the event that the Bible refers to.
