Hi Brenton, Quoting Brenton to Paul [lots of point software critisicm deleted] BV>For anyone interested, Ppoint with Binkley and BNU is the easiest BV>thing in the world to get running. It took me longer to find Bink BV>2.5 (for DOS) and the BNU fossil on my CD than it did to set it up. BV>BTW, the MKQWK stuff that you have on TML is really only useful if BV>the person is setting up a RA or QBBS system. A wee bit of overkill BV>just to get E-Mail don't you think ? I can understand much of your critcism of running as a point, but I'm sure you can appreciate that having a few weeks of messages stored in a msgbase is quite convenient. I was running my point setup with a puny msgbase (it had to fit on a floppy), but now that I get qwk packets off my msgbase, I can set it to keep 3000 Avtech messages, which should be handy. All I need now is a decent qwk reader rather than the rather primitive olx td. If someone cares to let me evaluate a more powerful reader (such as the latest olx offering ;-) ) I promise to consider registering or purchasing a copy. I think it may be a bit overpriced though. I'll be passing through Bakersfield in January BTW. The primitive unituitive unfriendly interface of a point setup doesn't matter so much, because once things are running ok, you don't have to worry about delving into the setup. None of that script fuss either. I haven't noticed Anthony spitting the point dummy for over a week now, so perhaps he's finding it not so bad afterall... Regards, Alan BTW, Is the dinner in Manly still on? Hopefully you received my reply saying it would only be me coming. I also forget what date it was (3rd or 4th), and shit, what was the name of the restaurant? I looked up the community white pages under mong* and saw nothing. That's why I need to keep a monster sized msgbase ;-) --- FMail 0.94* Origin: white-point (3:711/934.3) SEEN-BY: 711/934 @PATH: 711/934 |
