Now I have to slap it permanently on the hard drive.
Downloaded days or a week ago but just messed with
it today. I got the damned thing unzippped, loaded,
setup and looked up my local weather page URL in about the time it
would have taken Win 3.1 and Communicator to load
 and dial!!!
 Talk about painless Linux!

CA>> It is quite fast using LINKS.

No kidding, vimage was loading the radar image of my
local radar just in time to cue me to walk the dog
before the rain!
For this kid it's very soon to be bye bye MicroSoft!
I mean I'll keep 3.1 but see no reason at all to
_upgrade_ endlessly to an expensive buggy product
when freeware is well... free :-)
Besides if I find a lousy bug I can just fix it myself
and recompile.
First order of business on committing to this course is some
thorough research into Linux security issues.
Right now 85 percent of my e-mail is spam, 8 percent
malicious code and 7 percent something I'm looking for :-(

I've other stuff I've got to do but imagine I'll have a
version of Linux on this machine in less than a month that
suits all my current needs.

Whatever the default editor it seems to work fine but I'll
be studying up on my VI commands soon enough.
The only problem I ran into was a lockup when my CMOS
 power saver features kicked in.
I was happy that the three finger salute initiated
the Linux shutdown command first before reboot.
Perhaps a coincidence or screwup on my part but currently those
CMOS power saver features are switched off, no problems since.

Next mini-project after moving the ramdrive basic
 Linux to the hard drive.
I've already the ztelnet package here, just not loaded it
 yet.

I'll keep that one in mind as well as MultiMail.

Is there a release of Opera for Linux? Never mind I know
their URL and will check myself.
Is anyone writing a Linux native browser that adheres
 to proper web page standards.
LINKS for right now however is supercool, next time
I'm on I'll have to see what Tom's Hardware site
looks like with LINKS and no graphics by default.

I agree which is why I really like Free Agent.
What kind of newsgroup readers does Linux offer?
