Not a bad idea, but I wouldn't be too worried about their state. I think the 10 year figure is simply a guaranteed minimum spec, they typically will hold data for much longer somewhere in the range of 100 years and more. My old XT boards with eprom bios still boot perfectly. One thing that will surely corrupt them is pluging them in backwards and that's an easy mistake to make. BTW you might find yourself having a really hard time locating blank 8K and 16K eproms.
