FWIW, this could also be a motherboard BIOS issue. Chili and I went thru
this a while back. I
have an Symbios 22801, and because of the motherboard BIOS the Symbios BIOS
can't do half of
what the Symbios BIOS can do. This was confirmed by LSI Tech Support.

FWIW/2, I bought another 22801, with a later version BIOS, and while the
setup looks quite
different, the results are the same. Neither is an HP card, also confirmed
by LSI support.

The consensus, it's a Bios Boot Specification problem, residing at Award Software.

Regards,
