subject: C&C clone

Hello all.

I hope yas all had a merry Christmas. (and a happy new year).

Recently I have been playing the PC games of Warcraft II and C&C. I am
concerned about the lack of this kind of game on the Amiga. So I decided
to have a go at writing a similar game myself.
BUT I need ideas - I don't want the game to be too much of a clone:

In C&C you harvest some sort of crystals
In WarCraft II you chop down trees and mine gold

Anyone got any good ideas/scenarios for the gathering of money? and/or
resources to build things in this game?

I will be programming this in Blitz Basic 2 (no flames!), and from what I
have seen of the two PC games, it doesn't look to be too hard to program (I
may be just naive, or just stupid to think so). It'll just take a while,
that's all.

The game would ultimately be a two player modem game, with eventually a one
player version comming out.

The difficult areas I came up with were:

Random level generation
Serial port communication (what on earth do you send???)

Think that is about all. Now all I need are plenty of ideas about gameplay
and what kind of vehicle etc. I was thinking I wanted this game to tend
more to the C&C time frame (ie today/tommorow tech) rather than WC II.

Thanks all!
