I think we're talking about different things here, John.   I agree
that you will see differences when shows are on at different times.

But.....

Do this experiment - assuming you're on cable (I don't know if this applies
to a dish).  Find a show that's on a Canadian channel and a US channel at
the same time (the first CSI is a good one - I *think* 'The Simpsons' is
another one, in Ontario at least......you'll find the Canadian feed on both
of your cable channels.  And that's what my grumbling was/is about.  I can
live with the fact that I might lose the preview of next week's episode if
I *choose* to watch the Canadian channel....I have a *major* problem with
being forced to watch the Canadian channel even though I have tuned my TV
to the US channel.

As for the commercial time....I think we're actually lower in prime time
than is the US.  My son also thinks so and he's studying TV production in
college right now (first year) ....he's out at the moment, but I'll ask him
if that's come up in his classes.
