There's a general rule about fast jets - they don't carry passengers. If there's a second seat in there (apart from training models) it's because there's a job to be done back there. Once a second crew member is aboard, some of the pilot's load (typically navigation) gets dumped on him. I doubt very much that an SR-71 can be flown solo in safety. It's a fun story, though. If they'd had that problem, they would just have arranged for BA to do a "proving flight" in Concorde.
