KR> Hi there.
KR> First of all, someone at least reply if this is getting out.
KR> Now I just want to know 2 things:
KR> 1) I will be porting my Dos BBS to a Win 95 computer. Is it best to
KR> keep bnu 1.70, max dos and fd and run it under a dos window, or should
KR> I change something in that formula?
Sounds just about optimal, since you're running BNU. X00 gets laggy under
Windows. If FD gives you trouble, there are "tame" programs to get it under
control, or you can switch to Bink. Basically, just take your entire BBS
and run it just the way you are now. Then, you can pick at it to try to
improve the performance if you find a need.
KR> 2) For DOS based doors, I hear you can't run them under the win95
KR> version. True or false?
Windows 95 can't pass a hot comm port between a 32-bit app and a 16-bit
app. You're better off running the DOS version.
KR> 3) This time for general doors. Is it best to run the doors via an
KR> xtern_erlvl with my batch files, or is it safer to run them directly
KR> via an xtern_dos cmd to load up the batch file?
I prefer xtern_dos unless they won't run under it. Xtern_erlvl will give
you a tad more memory for the door. It'll also be a bit slower to exit the
BBS into the door and vice versa.
