Hello, All. Since there seems to be a high percentage of hams in here, I thought I'd let you all know that I'm going to be upgrading from my ICOM IC-718 to a Yaesu FT-897 (the big portable all-mode radio that has its own batteries) sometime within the next few months. I might not be able to do it this semester but next semester (January 2012). That means I'll be able to go portable and "mountaintopping" like I've wanted to do for ages. Grid hunters will love me with the rare DX I'll be doing up in the Appalachian Mountains. Holger, you and I should set up a sked one of these days. My friend has a FT DX 2000 with a 1.5kW amp and a very nice 43' vertical that I could use if you wanted to talk on 20 meters sometime. :) To keep it on-topic, I installed the DX Lab suite on my laptop and I like it better than Ham Radio Deluxe. I've been looking around and I definitely will be doing digital modes with this radio.
