I owned the first edition K&R for years. Loaned it out a few
years ago not realizing how expensive it had become, almost a
collector's item. It was just a paperback and I assumed worth
$20 tops. 

When I complained loud enough and long enough my oldest
daughter bought me a second edition K&R which I think she paid
$60 for used. It was a bit shabby compared to my first copy but
it was the book I wanted, not the cover. 

Now I seem to have misplaced the second edition too. I think I
left it behind in some office. I was taking it along to read
while waiting in various offices, probably not a good idea when
you are as absent minded as I have always been? 

Books should probably stay at home. :-\
