JN} -=> Quoting Ivy Iverson to Bobbie Beers <=-
JN} II> We have "Enhanced 911" here... it not only tells the operator your
JN} II> name, address and phone number, but also other information, such as
JN} II> handicaps, medical conditions or other things which a fire/rescue
JN} II> person/crew should know, and that information is available to the
JN} II> dispatcher within seconds after the call comes in.
JN} How does the dispatcher know the caller's name if they're at a pay
one?
JN} How does the dispatcher know the caller is handicapped or has some other
JN} medical problem if they use a pay phone?
JN} That's not the kinda data your local phone company is compiling.
JN} Betcha all E911 gives the dispatcher is an address and phone number, and
JN} the rest of that data is in the communication center's computer. That's
JN} the sort of information the fire companies gather when they're out of
he
JN} station conducting pre-fire inspections and planning.
Will you stop being a jerk.... OF COURSE it can't tell information about
a caller if they're calling from a pay phone - except for where the pay
phone is located at.... anything else would have to be TOLD to the
dispatcher....
