Is it possible  -  YES, but with 8 meg and a 486DX-2 ??? it problably will be 
a little slower than anticipated.
As to the 2nd question about loosing the periferals you need to explain that 
one a little more.  Did you tell OS/2 during the setup that they were there?  
If they were added, did you go back into selective setup and add the drivers? 
 Also if you are running a BBS or mailer, did you get SIO (OS/2 version of 
X00 by Ray Gwin).  There are too many other possibilities to continue 
guessing as to what might have gone wrong, so give us all the detail you can 
and we'll try to help!
