 This sad state of affairs is nothing new. It's been that way for, oh,

 I've never heard of it, but I assume that it's merely an updated version
 of the familiar "HQ" circuit. If so, I'd say that it's extremely reliable,
 since it's merely a form of reduction noise, a chip. No moving parts, so
 it will almost certainly outlive the transport mechanism.
