subject: PAIR GAIN PHONE SYSTEM

PM> I understand its often not the case, but it always surprises
PM> me as to how many able bodied folks will pay money to connect
PM> two to four color-coded wires together to matching color-coded
PM> (or at least clearly lettered with the first letter of the
PM> coded color) terminals. With an 8.00 "bell hangers" bit and
PM> a spool of wire and a stapler it shouldn't take more than an
PM> hour to wire-up most homes (less if one believes in crimp
 PM> connectors).
Bite your tongue!!! I have been at too many houses where the NOISY
STATIC problem is caused by someone using crimp connectors. Scotch Lock
(correct size for the gauge of wire) connectors are a different issue though.
A connection that is "shaky" can cause more problems than it it is worth by
making things faster.
But I do agree, TPC (The Phone Company...see The President's Analyst)
charges way too much for something so simple to do.
