I don't really see what the PC hardware division sale has to do with this except peripherally. The reality is that vast majority of desktop systems used for OS/2 are not manufactured by IBM. The percentage of laptops is higher, but less that you might think. One thing I can say with some assurance is that any support commitments that existed before the sale continue to exist after the sale. These are the only commitments that cause IBM to continue to release updates to OS/2 software.
