From: "John Beamish"
When you wrote "he's been interested in security" I am *really*
tempted to write sounds like guaranteed job security to me.
As you say, the timing is good.
My only concern is that there is potentially a very real difference between
the security they teach you in school and the security that has to be
considered in the real world. It's one thing to understand the philosophy
of security and its implications on systems development, infrastructure,
etc., and the real world requirement of locking down servers so totally
that nothing can be done and then only opening up the server the barest
minimum to accomplish a given task.
I think it might be time to hit Google to find some *large* companies near
you, find out the names of some senior VPs and chat with them to find out
what they are looking for in the managers they are hiring.
