I also grew up with computers, getting most of my core programming
background in COBOL and FORTRAN IV on an old IBM 360 mainframe. Sure
don't miss hand-punching those stacks of cards for the reader!
While I also prefer DOS and the CLI, I'm enough of a realist to realize
most of the crowd is going with Windows, so I needed to learn enough
about it to stay current. One of the primary reasons I like WordPerfect
is it's ease of customization to MY way of writing, and I can also set
up macro keys to do the functions I'm accustomed to using. I have to
admit, I do like the nice visual representation with WPWin 7 though! I
don't know that I would have bought the upgrade otherwise, but the free
upgrade was probably a good move on Corel's part!
As for the youth of today, I couldn't agree with you more! I get pretty
regular email from my daughters, and the spelling/captilization is
atrocious!
Cheers,
Phil
