Here, in Ontario, you get certified to teach by division. I am certified
to teach primary and junior (that is K-3 and 4-6), but I also have
additional qualifications in Special Ed. so that qualifies me teach that
(and possibly other subjects/grades) at a higher level.

We are having to endure testing, but I think it is more like a
diagnostic testing than a pass/fail situation. That is the tests are
sent out by the province and sent back to be marked to see how well the
system is running.
This year the grade 3 students have to take a writing test - it's in the
form of a month long unit with all materials provided. I'm not sure if
they have to do the math again this year. The grade 6 and 9 have tests
as well but not the same type.

It's on Dec 4th so I have a little time to go yet. Must remember to
update my resume (having a new Long term assignment to put on) and
covering letter this week. The resume package has to be in in about two
weeks.  I hope the Principal I am currently working for finishes up her
letter of recommendation soon - I hope it is as good (or even better
) than the last one I got from another Principal. :)
