Diesel engines have been used in automotive applications for many years, and
it's not generally that tough to get 'em started in reasonable weather. My VW
Diesels will not have problems down to at least 10 degrees F, sometimes
colder. I usually plug in the block heater if it'll be below 15 in the
morning, necessary or not.
