Replying to a message of Tony Ingenoso to John Beamish: TI> From: "Tony Ingenoso" TI> Farmers have already had their fill of govt intervention in their TI> businesses, it started back in the 30's with FDR and the new deal. I TI> doubt it would take much more to push'em over the edge. What's really a hoot is that back in the 30s or 40s a farmer in Illinois or Indiana refused to comply with federal price controls on the ground that they didn't apply to him because he was not involved in interstate commerce. The court ruled that his non-participation in interstate commerce was in fact affecting interstate commerce and therefore the government could force his compliance with their regulations under the interstate commerce clause (never mind that that particular clause was inserted to prevent states from taxing products imported from or exported to other states), and he did time in the slammer. ---* Origin: Bob's Soapbox, Plattsmouth, Nebraska, USA (1:379/103.104) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 379/103 1 633/267 |
