Hmmph!  Well, I'll be!  CMD.EXE does, in fact, display the contents of the
\DEV directory (only NUL on my system).  4OS2 simply displays the current
[sub]directory followed by \NUL and shows a 1024 byte file named NUL. 
Weird.  Thanks for showing the me the error of my ways.  ;-)
