I do have severall aha-2940UW and aha-29160 working here. Compared to 
the 2940UW, the sync is 160 (as announced in the bios post), but 
frankly, I see don't any difference. Moreover, if you put something to 
the external port (scanner, cd-drive etc...) sync reverts to 40 as in 
the 2940UW.

Bottomline: there are masses and masses of aha-2940UW for sale at Ebay. 
Get yourself a couple of these and update them to the bios level 3.10.0 
. You'll have all what you can wish for (I presume you have free 2 pci 
slots available).

And sad to say but nonetheless the truth: aha-3940 is ready for the 
department of industrial archeology.
