| subject: | Too Good? |
"Charles Angelich" wrote to "All" (15 Dec 02 14:26:00) --- on the topic of "Too Good?" CA> My recent arrangements of MP3/WMA traditonal Christmas MIDI CA> music is my most recent speed bump. On CD-DA when played CA> on a stereo system I get 'looks' that tell me they don't CA> believe the music is my own arrangement. What we're talking about here is the role of the musical conductor or in recording terms, the producer. For example if the early Beatles hadn't met Sir George Martin there is a possibility they would have been just another forgotten group. What Sir Martin did was just as creative and influential as anything the Lennon/McCartney team came up with. Another example is the Michael Jackson album Thriller which was produced by Quincy Jones. Had someone else been in charge it's not sure the album would have been as good. Like you I enjoy creating and producing my own MIDI files. For example I'll take a song and tinker with the instrument arrangements until they sound pleasing to me. Sometimes if you were to compare the before and after results, the original sounds like the "unplugged" version and my version raises the hair on the back of your neck. It's scary to have that much power! Hehehe! Mike **** ...
